Acne-prone skin refers to a chronic inflammatory disorder affecting the pilosebaceous unit.  The clinical manifestations involves the interaction of several host factors, including the stimulation of sebaceous glands, dysbiosis of the pilosebaceous follicle microbiome, and cellular immune responses. Other factors such as genetics and diet may also influence the development and progression of the skin condition.

The progression of microcomedones into other types of blemishes has been theorized to involve the following 4 primary events:

  • Increased sebum production (seborrhea)
  • Follicular hyperkeratinization
  • C acnes proliferation
  • Inflammation

Pigmentation Removal

Pigmented lesions such as age spots or freckles can be successfully lightened or removed with IPL treatment from Skin Bar. All of these treatments are non-invasive, suitable for both the face and body, and will result in a more even skin tone.

The results and the length of treatment required depend on the nature of the pigmentation but for example, a simple birth mark or over freckled nose could be removed in around 3-4 sessions of IPL treatment. IPL Treatment

The AW3® treatment works by directing well-controlled pulses of light into the upper skin layer. The light is absorbed by two of the body’s own natural chemicals – melanin in the pigmented areas and haemoglobin in the red blood. Both these pigments convert the light energy into heat.
