Thread vein removal

  • Very Effective
  • Quick and simple
  • Thousands of people has been treated successfully with the AW3® system

You do not have to worry about thread veins anymore, the AW3® systems short, safe bursts of light emitted from a flash-lamp to quickly remove those thin veins (technically called telangiectasias) from your face or legs.

A thread vein is a small blood vessel near the surface of the skin. The operator guides the visible light from the flash-lamp to the blood vessels needing treatment. The unique AW3® system carefully filters this light in two ways to ensure that only light with the correct characteristics (wavelengths) is allowed to reach your skin.
Blood contains haemoglobin that absorbs the light and converts it into heat. This heat destroys the protein in the wall of the thread vein. As a result the veins will gradually, and safely, disappear after treatment.

To ensure optimal light transmission to the blood vessel, a thin layer of gel (similar to that used in ultrasound examinations) is applied to your skin before treatment.

FAQ’s

Thread veins on all parts of your body can be treated. The most common treatments are for superficial veins in the facial, chest or leg areas.

Our system has the largest spot size on the market and is the only system to have auto flashes without delay. This mean doing a facial thread vein will only take 5 minutes.

Tolerance of pain is very individual from person to person and machine to machine. We have a variety of machines including no pain machines and the sensation of each are completely different.

No anaesthetics are required, and most people describe the sensation as similar to that of a rubber band snapping onto the skin. You may find it comforting to cool the skin after the treatment.

We recommend you limit sun exposure and use a sunscreen (SPF 60) for a few weeks following treatment. After treatment of thread veins on the legs, compression (surgical) stockings should be worn for two weeks.

If larger veins on the leg have already been treated (surgery or sclerotherapy), the treatment should be delayed for at least one month to allow the healing process to be complete first.

This all depends on the body site and the severity of the thread vein. Studies confirm that 1 to 4 treatments are usually needed with one month apart.

Clinical trials documenting AW3 safety and effectiveness are carried out by leading doctors prior to the release of the product. The results of these tests are then published in respected, refereed medical journals. The settings used for your treatment will be based on the settings recommended by the clinicians who carried out the clinical trials.

You will need to refrain from hair removal for at least four weeks before your appointment to ensure as many hair follicles are targeted.  The same rule applies to any sun treatments, as a tan will raise the pigment level in the skin and have a severe effect on the treatment’s success.

As hair grows in three different cycles and the Permanent Hair Reduction can only successfully treat hair during its growth stage.  As this is the case it of often necessary to undergo a course of 3-6 treatments ensuring that you leave at least 6-8 weeks between each session initially, and then only repeat as and when the hair returns.

To achieve long lasting or permanent hair reduction, it is necessary to destroy the hair follicle from which individual hairs grow. Well controlled pulses of light penetrate the upper skin layer and are absorbed by one of the body’s own natural chemicals – melanin – in the hair contained in the follicle.

Melanin converts the light energy into heat. This heat is transferred to the hair follicle, which is destroyed, making it unable to produce a new hair. The treatment is only effective on growing hairs as these are still attached to the follicle. The majority of our hair is in the resting phase which explains why more than one treatment is necessary. This technique is called “Selective Photothermolysis”.

HOW DOES LASER TATTOO REMOVAL WORK?

Skin bar use the AW3® Nd Yag laser that can safely and effectively remove tattoos, skin pigmentation and permanent make up.

The bodies immune system cannot naturally remove ink particles of tattoos as they are too large, because tattoo pigment is injected into the lower layers of the skin or the dermis it becomes locked away in a wall by a wall of collagen fibres.

Short bursts of high energy light are produced by the Q-switched laser, this light is absorbed by the large ink particles generating heat that shatters the tattoo pigment into particles which the body will remove. As tattoo ink absorbs the energy of the laser the surrounding skin does not overheat leaving no long-lasting damage.

Tattoo Removal FAQ’s

Neodymium-doped yttrium aluminium garnet which is what ND YAG stands for, this is a crystal that is used as a medium for laser treatments. When in Q-switched mode the Nd YAG produces 2 wavelengths, one in the infrared range (1064nm) and the second beam at a wavelength of 532nm. The term Q switching refers to the technique of making the laser produce a high intensity beam in very short pulses.

There may be a risk of scarring with any laser, in most cases scarring is not a significant risk when removing tattoos with the ND Yag laser.  Older lasers have long been associated with scarring as they were very aggressive and did carry a very high risk of scarring.  As the ND Yag laser does not heat the surrounding skin significantly the rick of scarring is reduced. Genetic pre-disposition to forming scar tissue and the resistance of green pigment causes the risk of scarring. At Skin bar we carry out a medical evaluation to identify and reduce high-risk clients; also have an adjunct treatment that can prevent scar tissue forming and even improve existing.

The laser in principle can remove all kinds of tattoos. As tattoos are not all the same i.e colour, depth of ink and chemical composition some may respond in different ways. Colours that respond well with laser are typically Black, red dark orange and dark blue. Brown, purple, green, light orange, neon and light blue are harder to remove and may require more sessions.
